Graphical Association for Scheduling

Some of our long-time readers may notice that I am a fan of graphical displays to help to connect information and make things easier to understand.  And you might also remember that I have been testing the X.AI artificial intelligence scheduling assistant, Amy Ingram (but I found they also have Andrew).  This week I learned that they are testing a graphical reporting tool for their scheduling system.  Cool, I thought. More below...

A blog post by X.AI “Work Futurist” (great title BTW), Laurel Woerner titled: “What your 3D calendar can show you about your productivity”.  Great!  We in the courts always want our calendar (really schedule) to be more productive.

X.AI have used the open source “Ploty to illustrate the relationship between yourself and all the people you meet with”.   In a court situation, one could visualize the number of times a judge interacts with a particular attorney, probation/social worker or even a law enforcement officer.  With that graphical view, one could, in turn, use it to strategize how to make those interactions more efficient.

As Ms. Woerner writes:
“We can use these graphs to help us prioritize.  When you see your time condensed and laid out in a new way, you might notice patterns you hadn’t before. If you scheduled a ton of meetings with a team that just isn’t your priority or met only once with that client who seemed promising, a 3D view of your calendar data might surface those misalignments.”
The article continues with some business examples to help one think about this new idea.

A "gif" from Ms. Woerner's post.

Fun!
